Would you like to steer your life in a more fulfilling direction? Would you like for your wildest dreams to become realistic goals? Would you like to have more energy and resources with which to accomplish those goals? Who wouldn't? Perhaps what's hindering you from having what you want is your attitude and outlook. If so, it is time to change all of that. No one else can do it for you--you can have help along the way but ultimately you will have to do the work yourself. All anyone else can do is share the tools that are used in the process of reclaiming a positive outlook.

Of course, knowing that you have an opportunity to change the way you perceive your life and the world at large isn't enough. If you think a positive psychology or stress management book would be helpful, then go get yourself one that focuses on areas where you think you need guidance. If you think some form of therapy might help, then go for it. Ultimately, however, it comes down to retraining your thoughts to avoid patterns of doubt, self-judgment, and negativity. If you need to put little notes all around your house reminding yourself that you "are okay and have everything you need," then by all means, do it. One important thing to remember is that you have to be kind and forgiving to yourself. If you scold yourself when you fail at something or when things go wrong, you lose your opportunity to be grateful for yet another life lesson.

If you don't think positive psychology can change your life, then the fact of the matter is, you're probably not ready or willing to change. Humans are very capable of complex thought, but that doesn't mean that everything we encounter throughout life needs to be complex. After all, all complex things are made up of very basic building blocks. All too often, we overlook these simple elements, and they are usually the most important.

You can choose to look at your life experiences as being complex and involved, and think that there are a great many factors that go into healing and cultivating a positive outlook, but you really only need a few simple tools to change. Whether you consult with someone who specializes in positive psychology or you educate yourself by reading a positive thinking book, you have the capacity to manifest your own reality, whether you have guidance or not. You don't need to be an expert in the concept of positive psychology to live its principles. If you are not already living the principles, however, then learning more about them is the first step to bringing them into your life.
